North American powerhouse Evil Geniuses are eyeing Frech coaching veteran Damin “maLek” Malek as a replacement for outgoing Damian “daps” Steele for the position of head coach of their CSGO roster.
According to a report by Dexerto, maLeK stepping down from the coaching position at G2 Esports after 4 years was a decision taken heading into the major and results, which were quite promising as the French-Balkan mix finished runner-ups had no role in it. This was confirmed by the maLek himself in a tweet.
G2 Esports looked quite threatening at the major, given they came the closest to stopping NAVI from winning it. Even with positive results, it was clear that G2 would make changes, which many speculated to come in form of a new AWPer, making maLeK’s departure a surprise to many.
With EG, looking like a shadow of their former selves, maLeK will have to shoulder the heavy task of building a team around Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov who are the two remaining players after the departure of Peter “ stanislaw ” Jarguz, Owen “”Schlatter and Michał” MICHU “Müller.
With North American CSGO in a bit of turmoil, maLeK will arguably take on the hardest job of his coaching career, especially in a region where other games are gaining popular thus limiting the influx of new talent. Nothing but rumors surrounding the new roster of EG is available as of now but an announcement is expected soon.
