Mark Zuckerberg Plans to Launch Twitch Channel for Civilization Streaming

Anticipation for Zuckerberg’s Twitch Debut

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, is considering a new venture that might surprise many: launching a Twitch channel to stream his favorite game, Civilization. During Meta’s annual Connect event in Menlo Park, California, Zuckerberg shared his enthusiasm for the game and hinted at his potential plans for streaming.

Zuckerberg’s love for Civilization is no secret. He has been an avid player since middle school, and the game even played a role in his decision to become an engineer. “Priscilla looked at my Steam account the other day and she’s like, ‘What?! You’ve played this for more than a thousand hours,’” Zuckerberg recounted, referring to his wife, Priscilla Chan. He added, “In terms of strategy games, the one that I’m more likely to want to be the best in the world at is Civilization.”

The game, designed by Sid Meier and Bruce Shelley in 1991, challenges players to guide a civilization through history, making crucial economic, political, and military decisions. Zuckerberg’s deep engagement with the game is evident. He even recalled playing Civilization when he received his acceptance email from Harvard.

Zuckerberg’s potential Twitch debut comes at a time when the platform is thriving with popular streamers like Kai Cenat, xQc, Pokimane, and TommyInnit. If he joins, he will be in good company, adding a unique twist to the streaming community. His rival, Elon Musk, has already made waves by streaming Diablo 4 on X, garnering millions of views.

The anticipation for Zuckerberg’s Twitch channel is building, especially with the upcoming release of Civilization VII on February 11, 2025. Fans are eager to see if he will indeed take his gaming skills to a live audience. Zuckerberg’s confidence in his abilities is clear. “I think at some point, I should do, like, a Twitch stream of me playing with someone because I’m pretty convinced that I’m close to grandmaster status. I’d be surprised if anyone in the world could beat me at that,” he stated.

As the tech mogul contemplates this new venture, the gaming community is abuzz with excitement. Whether Zuckerberg will dominate the Twitch scene as he has in the tech world remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: his passion for Civilization is unwavering, and his potential entry into streaming could be a game-changer.
