Mobile games market declines in U.S by 9%

The Mobile Gaming market in USA has observed a big decline in the first half of 2022 in terms of player spendings and overall downloads. According to the reports by SensorTower, the market has declined by 9.6% in the H1 2022 as compared to H1 2021.

Mobile gaming has seen a skyrocketing rise in the past few years and the growth peaked during pandemic times. This trend is apparently going down the hill as the entire mobile gaming market has slipped in the USA.

According to this pictorial representation made by SensorTower, one can clearly see that all the sectors have seen a steep drop in revenue growth as each sector has fallen except Arcade, noting a 14.8% rise in this specific genre.

The racing genre has taken the largest hit as their yearly revenue has decreased by more than a quarter from H1 2021 to H1 2022. This data is centralized to USA but can depict a global trend as well.

If the data is analyzed for total downloads in between these two halves, one can see a similar declining trend with Casino games taking the biggest hit. The action genre received a generous amount of downloads.

Action and Shooter genre have climbed up drastically well, owing to the launch of Apex Legends Mobile and its contribution to increase the download number by 5.5 million. The quarterly growth shows this exact phenomenon.

Overall, the mobile gaming market has suffered a lot and lost a huge amount gained from player spendings. It will be interesting to see how this trend changes or shapes in the remaining half of 2022.
