New version of PUBG Mobile named ‘Battlegrounds 2.0’ under development

PUBG Mobile has been breaking records in all aspects and as the popularity of this game is still rising, Krafton is getting ready to capitalize on it and launch a sequel game for PUBG and its mobile version. According to reports by Korean news media company MTN, a sequel for PUBG and PUBG Mobile 2.0 are under development.

As the report is fully written in the Korean language, the games are being referred to as ‘Battlegrounds’ and ‘Battlegrounds mobile’ instead of PUBG and PUBG Mobile respectively. The report reveals that a cross multi-platform title for PC and console is under development alongside a mobile version of it.

Their sources have stated, “From the first half of last year, PUBG has been developing a new mobile game [named] ‘Project XTRM’ based on the worldview of ‘Battleground'[PUBG] .” The concept of this new game has been labeled as ‘Battleground Mobile 2’ or PUBG Mobile 2.0.

Adding to this information, it was further stated, “There was a team that was preparing a new PC/console platform for the ‘Battleground’ IP in Krafton, and this team was transferred to PUBG at the beginning of last year. We are in full swing, but if the game is successfully developed and completed, it is highly likely to be named ‘Battle Ground 2’.”

This exclusive information reveals that potentially a new version of PUBG and its several versions are under development. This new game could be titled simply as PUBG 2.0 or can come out as a completely different version named ‘Project XTRM’. Based on the information revealed so far, it could be said that if the ‘worldview’ of PUBG is taken, we could see a new battle-royale title from Krafton very soon.

The report was translated from the Korean language so some of the intricate details might be left out during the translation.

A new version of PUBG Mobile could be a bigger hit than its predecessor in the global mobile game market but since Krafton has not officially announced the game or any of its developments, most of the details are vague for now.
