Former esports player turned content creator for Carnival Gaming, Suraj “Neyoo” Majumdar, has found himself in a heated controversy that has sparked widespread discussion both within and beyond the gaming community. Neyoo faced backlash after responding to racial slurs from a child viewer with vulgar language. Independent journalist Deepika Bhardwaj’s exposé on her X handle brought widespread attention beyond gaming circles.
Carnival Gaming’s Neyoo Abuses Child on Livestream, Issues a Public Apology
In a recent live stream, Neyoo randomly encountered a child on an online chat platform that connects a user with random strangers. This child viewer directed racial slurs, including the highly offensive racial slurs like “black” and the n-word, towards him. In response to these derogatory remarks, Neyoo responded with extremely vulgar language towards the child.
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, Founder of Ekam Nyaay Foundation, who is also an independent journalist and social activist, brought this incident to public attention through a post on X. This post quickly garnered significant traction, reaching both the general and gaming audiences.
In response to the mounting backlash, Neyoo took to his Instagram Stories to provide his perspective on the events. However, he quickly opted to delete his initial explanations and instead issued a public apology for his actions. On the other hand, there has been no official announcement from Carnival Gaming on this matter.
Prior to this, Ghaziabad Police arrested Valorant streamer Shikha Metray (alias Kuwari Begum) after a video featuring her disturbing comments went viral on social media, teaching inappropriate things to his viewers. This action was taken after Deepika lodged a formal complaint against her. On the other hand, globally renowned streamer Dr Disrespect was also involved in texting a minor. As the esports industry continues to grow and evolve, incidents like these serve as crucial moments for reflection and discussion on the ethical responsibilities of influencers and the impact of their actions on impressionable audiences. This highlights the need for greater awareness and sensitivity in digital interactions, particularly in spaces frequented by younger audiences.
