Nintendo Switch hits 15 million unit sales milestone

The introduction of the Nintendo Portable Switch lite was a genius move by Nintendo which boosted the sale of Nintendo Switch systems by over 20% through September. According to data released by the Japanese gaming industry leader, Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite systems sold over 15 million units in North American market .

The original Switch has been the United States’ top selling console for 10 consecutive months as the Switch’s groundbreaking hybrid design caught everyone’s attention when it was first revealed to gamers around the world. Nintendo’s Switch wasn’t just about the flair and the hype as the product actually lived up to consumer expectations upon its release in March 2017. Nintendo has produced many consoles but the Switch has become more of a Flagship in just a period of 3 years.

A major part of this success is owed to the exciting list of titles available for the Nintendo switch a few of which being The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Fortnite, Minecraft, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Rocket League, Overwatch and countless more. These are all well known names which every gamer knows of and few of the titles mentioned above have gone ahead and sold over 6 million copies each.

If we look at the bigger picture, Nintendo Switch announced a global sales figure of over 36 million units making it an equal competitor of the PlayStation 4 when it comes to numbers achieved 3 years after launch. The growth chart is expected to rise till the end of the year.
