In another revelation in the PUBG Mobile India saga, an RTI for insight into the status of the relaunch of the uber popular game in India has been met with a rather intriguing response.
The response to the RTI has iterated that MEITY, the government body in charge of the same, is yet to grant clearance for the release of the game.
The RTI stated the following:
“Dear Sir/ Mam, In the month of September, 2020, Government of India with the consultation of your Department (MeitY) banned various Chinese apps. One of which was Pubg Mobile Game. Now, there are many news which says that the game is being relaunched and the same is made specifically for the Indian Public and will not be harmful to the nation and its citizens. I would like to know if your department has given any such permission to the game so that it can be re-launched.”
This puts to rest rumours of PUBG Mobile India coming soon and the hype generated surrounding the relaunch of the application since Diwali. It is indeed a disappointing update for the millions of fans that have been eagerly waiting to play their favourite game once again.

However, there is no telling as to how long MeitY will take before providing clearance for the release of the newly designed or curated PUBG Mobile India application.
