Chinese Overwatch League Teams to Boycott Activities Involving Seoul Dynasty DPS Saebyeolbe

The Overwatch League’s Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Shanghai Dragons, and Hangzhou Spark have reportedly refused to participate in activities including Seoul Dynasty DPS, Saebyeolbe.

This decision follows some controversial political remarks that were made on Saebyeolbe’s stream regarding Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Saebyeolbe posted a public apology for making controversial remarks through a handwritten note on his Instagram account. Clips recording the incident have now been deleted.

On May 6th, the four Chinese organizations in the Overwatch League announced that they’ll be boycotting activities involving Saebyeolbe.

Shanghai Dragons general manager Van has explained the extent of the boycott in a statement. The Dragons won’t be participating in any activities involving Saebyeolbe, including scrims, commercial activities, or interviews.

Activision Blizzard hasn’t responded to the situation as of yet.
