NVIDIA GeForce Cup – Overwatch tournament in India, but not the first

Overwatch, one of the best sellers in FPS title, has a small but emerging community in India. With the inaugural national event organized by Drag2Death, the community has built itself into a steady one and exposed itself and acknowledged by NVIDIA, which announced its first-ever Overwatch tournament in India.

After their successful community-supported FPS Battle Season, NVIDIA is now focusing on the NVIDIA GeForce Cup initiative. Not to be confused with India’s first ever Overwatch tournament. Instead, this is NVIDIA’s first ever Overwatch tournament in the country.

The eight pre-determined NVIDIA Certified cafes will be hosting the participants for the first season. Dell’s Alienware has also been associated with the event to help and accelerate the latest growing game into a widely grown eSports community as compared to CS: GO and DotA 2 in India.

Esports have taken the world by storm and India is no exception. The format attracts gamers as they get to showcase their skills, compete with each other, and gain recognition from their peer gaming community. At NVIDIA, we see immense market potential in India and through GeForce Cup, we want Indian gamers to experience the latest eSport games on the best platform. This will also pave the way for them to compete at international competitions.

NVIDIA has planned to enter and organize an Overwatch tournament in a very fine business model. The places decided by NVIDIA are Nvidia-only certified cafes which offer value for money level of experience.

HeadhunterZ Cup, the first organized gaming tournament in India was conducted two weeks ago by Drag2Death, in which Huckleberry conquered the event by beating Beyond Infinity 2-1 in the finals, and took home ₹10,000.
