New Overwatch 2 Permanent Avoid Teammate System Explained

Master the New Overwatch 2 Avoid Teammates System

With the Season 12 update, Overwatch 2 is finally getting its highly anticipated revamped ‘Avoid Teammates’ feature, something fans of the competitive shooter have been eagerly awaiting ever since it was initially teased in April 2024.

The new system not only expands the number of available avoid slots per player from three to fifteen, but it also enables you to permanently avoid certain players that you will never be matched within your team.

In this article, we take a look at everything you need to know about the new and updated avoid teammate system in Overwatch 2.

New Overwatch 2 Feature Lets You Permanently Avoid Teammates

The revamped avoid teammates feature in Overwatch 2 brings with it a number of important changes to the system.

For starters, as mentioned earlier, players will now be able to add up to 15 other players to their “Avoid Teammates” list.

On top of that, players will receive three pinned slots that allow them to permanently avoid griefers, toxic players, or anyone they don’t want to be matched with again.

The remaining twelve slots can be used to rank teammates based on how much you mind queuing with them. Note that being placed in one of these 12 slots doesn’t guarantee permanent avoidance—there’s still a chance you may end up in a game with them if the system needs to fill a match.

Additionally, players you place in these 12 slots will be automatically removed after 7 days. So, if you want to avoid someone permanently, you’ll need to pin them in one of the three slots.
