PhantomL0rd wins lawsuit against Twitch

James ‘PhantomL0rd’ Vargas has emerged victorious in the lawsuit he filed against Twitch following his ban back in 2016, but the settlement is worth far less than the $35 million of his initial asking.

The former Twitch stream was banned alongside several other streamers for misleading the masses into CSGO skin gambling. After his countless appeals failed, Vargas filed for wrongful termination of his channel, demanding around $35 million in damages. Spending 3 years in court, PhantomL0rd finally came out on top but the settlement’s worth way below his initial asking.

Twitch’s legal team tried capping his fees to $50000 but the court didn’t comply with it, however, the lawsuit was a roller-coaster and Twitch got what they wanted. PhantomL0rd received only $20,720.34 in damages and big fat W.

“Twitch LOST EVERYTHING, including the fraud claim against me for the CSGOShuffle allegations!!! This is a win for ALL streamers! Twitch can’t bully, lie & treat streamers unfairly the way they have for years!!!” his Tweet read.

His victory means more than just the money he received; over the years, several streamers have appealed against a wrongful ban/termination of their channel, and this would motivate them to follow the footsteps of PhantomL0rd.
