In a recent interview with the IANS, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his ambitious vision for India’s booming gaming industry. Modi highlighted the sector’s immense potential and emphasized the importance of positioning India as a global leader in the gaming market, underscoring his commitment to transforming the nation into a creative economy.
PM Modi Aims for Indian Leadership in Global Gaming Industry
“I aimed to capture the global market for everything my country produces. When the world of YouTube emerged, I invited them as well. I asked how they could help the country. I called influencers, the creative world, and now look at the vast gaming market. Indians are investing and spending money, but the earnings go elsewhere. So, I called all the gaming experts. First, I understood their problems,” Modi stated.
This is not the first time Narendra Modi has brought the Indian gaming industry to the spotlight. He previously met with gaming experts, including Animesh “Thug” Agarwal, Naman “MortaL” Mathur, Payal Dhare a.k.a. Payal Gaming, Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar, Anshu Bisht a.k.a. GamerFleet, and Mithilesh “MythPat” Patankar, to understand and address the industry’s challenges.
“I told the nation and my government that we need to ensure Indian leadership in gaming. It’s such a significant future market, and now that gaming has become part of the Olympics, I want us to be included. I am in favor of working together on all such issues,” he added.
By focusing on the gaming industry, PM Modi aims to harness the creative potential of young Indians, positioning the country as a hub for digital content creation. This aligns with his broader strategy of shifting India from an entertainment-centric to a creativity-centric economy.
