PogChamps is a popular online tournament where internet celebrities and streamers compete against each other in an amateur chess match over two weeks. Both PogChamps and PogChamps 2 have been highly successful and managed to bring an astonishing number of viewers.
Chess.com has officially unveiled the third edition of PogChamps which is scheduled to take place on February 14 and the finals on February 28.
The last two PogChamps had a prize pool of $50,000 but this time the prize amount is double that of the previous two tournaments, being $100,000. Chess.com will also contribute another $100,000 towards charity. This year’s lineup is rather impressive as the confirmed participants are:
- Pokimane – Popular Twitch streamer.
- Logic – Rapper, and Songwriter.
- CodeMiko – A ‘virtual’ influencer.
- Rainn Wilson – Actor, known for his role as Dwight Schrute in The Office
- Mr. Beast – One of the biggest YouTubers and philanthropist.
- Myth – Pro Fortnite player.
- Ludwig – Famous Super Smash bros commentator.
- Michelle Khare – Former Pro cyclist and YouTuber
- MoistCr1TiKaL aka Charlie – YouTuber, Streamer, and Musician.
- xQc – Twitch Streamer and pro Overwatch player.
- Daniel Negreanu – Poker champion.
The event will be commentated by celebrities such as Hikaru Nakamura who is United States Chess Champion, Daniel Rensch, the youngest chess national master, Anna Rudolf the FIDE International Master and Woman Grandmaster, and more renowned figures from the Chess community while previous PogChamps participants and streamers are set to make a special guest appearance.
PogChamps 3 will not only broadcast live on Chess.com/tv but also on other streaming platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. Other broadcast platforms will be announced in the future. The finals will take place on February 28. Viewers will have the chance to be awarded a one-month Diamond membership through random drops that will occur throughout the event.
