Saad “PokemoN” Ahmed and co. earlier today won the Asia Minor Middle-East Closed Qualifier for ESL One Rio 2020 and secured their slot for Asia Minor. Camel Riders remained undefeated right through the open qualifier. 21-year-old is the only Pakistani national who will attend a Minor event for a Valve sponsored major.
The finale of Middle-East Closed Qualifier between Camel Riders and Aequus was embroiled in a controversy. South-East Asia and Middle-East is notoriously known for routing issues and high pings on servers that aren’t far off. Camel Riders had a one map advantage in best-of-five encounter coming from the upper bracket. Aequus suddenly decided to register their protest and forfeited the fifth map citing colossal ping difference between the two sides.
The Israelis had 200ms ping while their opponents played on 5ms. Shiran “Shushan” Shushan said, “We decided to forfeit the last map of the qualifier due to being forced to play with 200ms. ESL decided it’s fair that a decider match will have 195ms difference.” He further thanked his fans and announced that he would focus to qualify for FPL-C.
Camel Riders will attend Asia Minor for ESL One Rio 2020 Major between April 26 – May 02 alongside Renegades, ViCi Gaming, Mazaalai and TIGER.
