Pokimane Suggests Financially “Well Off” Streamers To Not Play Activision Blizzard Games

Activision Blizzard has been under fire for multiple controversies since the start of 2021 after reports of continuous sexual harassment and employee harassment surfaced.

Twitch partner and star streamer, Pokimane has asked her fellow streamers on the platform to actively boycott and stop streaming Activision-Blizzard games after the gaming company came under the scanner of federal agencies following sexual harassment lawsuits.

Activision Blizzard has been under fire for multiple controversies since the start of 2021 after reports of continuous sexual harassment and employee harassment surfaced. Since then the company has had many lawsuits filed against them from the federal agency and the state of California.

The CEO, Bobby Kotick has also come under fire after a report by WSJ stated that CEO Bobby Kotick was aware for years of allegations of sexual misconduct at the video game giant. The report also alleged that Bobby Kotick failed to inform the company’s board of directors of “everything he knew”, including a 2018 settlement with a former employee at one of Activision’s studios who was allegedly raped by a supervisor.

Since then, Activision Blizzard has been publicly condemned by various gaming figures including Xbox boss Phil Spencer and PlayStation chief Jim Ryan. The 2021 Game Awards, producer Geoff Keighley also confirmed that the publisher wouldn’t have a role at the show outside of the nominations and no Activision Blizzard titles would appear during the award show.

Now, Twitch streamer Pokimane has also shared her views on why fellow popular streamers should distance themselves from streaming Activision Blizzard titles. During her regular stream on December 8th, Pokimane said that

“I think if you are a financially well-off streamer, you just f**kin’ shouldn’t. However, I do understand that some people may be in a situation where their income is heavily based around a Blizzard game. But I think, in that case, they should still be extremely vocal about how they’re against this if they are still gonna play their game.”

Pokimane herself has been actively boycotting playing and streaming Activision Blizzard games publicly since July 2021. This is also the first time she has asked other fellow content creators to do the same and not stream any titles of the company or if they are unable to do that financially then they should be “extremely vocal” against the company.
