A new development has came forward in regards to the imposed ban on PUBG Mobile and prolongation in the launch of its new version, PUBG Mobile India. An RTI (Right to Information) query filed by GemWire has revealed that there has been no formal dialogue between the concerned parties regarding the future of PUBG Mobile India for now.
PUBG Mobile was banned in India in September 2020 and soon after, PUBG Corp. announced a comeback in the form of PUBG Mobile India during the festival of Diwali. This relaunch of PUBG Mobile in India with a different version was expected to be announced very soon but no launch or release date for PUBG Mobile India was revealed.
After a significant amount of improvements in the story, a new piece of information revealed that PUBG Corp. needed the permission of IT Ministry of India (MeitY) to fully launch the game in the country. No official confirmation was ever released regarding this topic but now, a new RTI query suggests that no formal conversation between MeitY and Krafton has been done yet.
According to a report by GemWire, they filed an RTI request on 17th December 2020 which contained several questions regarding current situation.
One of the questions was “Is there an open dialogue taking place between MEITY and PUBG Corporation/Krafton INC?” and as per the report, they got a response stating “No formal dialogue with PUBG/Krafton is held by this Ministry.“
This suggests that the parties involved have not been actively communicating on the developments of the future of PUBG Mobile in India. While the fans of this game eagerly await it’s launch, this report implies that the launch of PUBG Mobile India is uncertain for the time being.
