Harpreet Singh “Ronak” Janjuha today announced on Instagram that he would be joining American organisation Oxygen Esports.
With PUBG Mobile at the cusp of coming back from being banned by the Indian government for more than 3 months, it seems like organisations are scrambling to make lineups for one of the most popular Esport titles in India. New England based Oxygen Esports is one of them, having signed ex Fnatic and Soul player RonaK.
Known for its Rainbow 6 Seige lineup, Oxygen Esports is the biggest Esports organisation in New England. Their R6 lineup has had a fair bit of success with 3rd-4th place standings at multiple Tier A tournaments. They also have lineups in Rocket League and Hearthstone. However, debuting in PUBG Mobile and that too in India seems a pretty strange move, specially considering that they are not one of the heavyweights of the NA region.
From the perspective of RonaK, this is great news having finally secured a permanent spot. With his career at Fnatic not reaching the highs of his Soul days, he was often left disappointed with a spot at the bench among inconsistent performances and off the game controversies. After a brief stint with GodL as a stand in, Ronak was ultimately left without a lineup before the big hammer on the ban came about.
It will be interesting to see which other players are picked up in the lineup and what the role of Ronak will be within it. As PUBG Mobile is getting closer to a return to India, we can expect to see more such moves happening in the region.
