American music label Quality Control has invested an unspecified amount in the newly formed esports organization, XEST Esports. Quality Control is one of the major brands in the USA and has major music artists like Migos, Lil Yachty, and Lil Baby and global star Cardi B on their label.
XSET was first announced to the world in June 2020 when Major FaZe Clan execs left the company to start a Rival company, citing diversity concerns. According to Greg Selkoe, former president at Faze Clan and founder of XSET, there was a huge racial and gender diversity void in gaming that needed to be filled. Greg reasons he formed XSET to “look like the youth of America” as part of a “very clear social mission of inclusion.”
Until now XSET has raised $10m in their latest round of funding, though it’s unknown who else has contributed towards the funding. However, XSET made it public that Quality Control has taken part in the latest round of funding.
According to a report from the Washington Post, XSET and Quality Control will work together to produce content and merchandise to promote themselves. Also, streamers working with XSET will get exclusive access to Quality Control’s music library to stream music while broadcasting. Since DMCA has made it impossible to play music on stream, a partnership like this will allow streamers access to chat topping titles to play on stream while also saving themselves from getting DMCA notices.
