Resurgence Valorant roster banned for match-fixing by Riot Games

Riot Games has announced suspending professional Valorant players Malcolm “Fermsg” Chung and Ryan “Dreamycsgo” Tan, alongside the former Resurgence roster for manipulating the outcome of a competitive match.

‘Germsg’ and ‘Dreamycsgo’ will not be able to participate in the VCT for 36 months, while the former Resurgence roster will receive reduced penalties based on the level of their culpability and their cooperation with the investigation.

Riot has stated that the bans have been issued following investigations on the match-fixing allegations in the Resurgence versus BlackBird Ignis match during the VALORANT Ignition Series on 22 September 2020.

“Riot’s investigation found that Malcolm ‘Germsg’ Chung and Ryan ‘Dreamycsgo’ Tan coordinated to bet against their own team, Resurgence,” Riot Games said in a statement. “Germsg initiated the scheme and Dreamycsgo provided the capital. Germsg then informed the rest of the Resurgence roster about his bet.”

Here are the penalties that the other involved members will face, as stated in the blog post by Riot Games:

  • Justin “Boplek” Wong Chong Cheng and Sengdala “Jabtheboy” Jamnalong will be banned from VCT for 1 year
  • Du Min “Mortdecai” Yeo and Benedict “Benaf” Tan will be banned from VCT for 6 months
