A former employee of Riot Games, together with a current one, are suing Riot Games for multiple charges. The League of Legends producer is accused of unequal pay, sexual harassment and for promoting gender discrimination.
The class action suit against Riot Games is filed by a former and a current employee. The lawsuit doesn’t surprise the community as Kotaku had earlier reported about the Riot Game’s sexist environment.
Further, into the details, the document reveals how Riot Game’s hiring process favors men. An instance by the plaintiff jolts the conscience when it is described as “a female employee discovered an email chain discussing what it would be like to ‘penetrate her,’ in which a colleague added that she would be a good target to sleep with and not call again.”
The Kotaku report’s allegations were refuted by Riot Games’ statement earlier. Apparently, the company assured that it will try to ‘fix’ the corporate problem immediately as it can.
“Despite Ms. McCracken’s hard work to achieve her promotion, it has been put on hold and her future with Riot Games is dire, at best.” The suit furthers that one of the plaintiffs was barred from making decisions over her products. is prevented from attending senior leadership meetings.
The current litigation against the company is now being addressed at the California Superior Court.
Riot Games in a statement to The Verge said: “While we do not discuss the details of ongoing litigation, we can say that we take every allegation of this nature seriously and investigate them thoroughly. We remain committed to a deep and comprehensive evolution of our culture to ensure Riot is a place where all Rioters thrive”
