Sinatraa Speaks Out on Sexual Assault Allegations, Details Valorant Investigation Flaws

Former Valorant and Overwatch pro challenges Riot’s handling of the case and reveals overlooked evidence.

Jay “Sinatraa” Won, the former Valorant and Overwatch professional player, has broken his silence years after facing serious sexual assault allegations brought forward by his ex-girlfriend, Cleo “cle0h” Hernandez. The 2021 accusations led to significant consequences for Won’s esports career, including a six-month suspension by Riot Games due to alleged non-cooperation in their investigation.

In a statement posted on social media, Sinatraa provided new details, addressing key aspects of the case and challenging the investigation’s credibility. He claimed that the audio clip presented as evidence by Hernandez was taken from a consensual encounter that she had requested be recorded. He emphasized, “In the video, she was on top of me the whole time and fully in control.” Sinatraa also asserted that Riot unfairly deemed him uncooperative because he was unable to produce a recording he said had been deleted long before the investigation.

Won alleged that Riot misinterpreted his actions during the investigation, leading to his suspension. He disclosed that a private tweet from his current girlfriend, Emma, was used against him. Emma has since expressed regret over the misunderstanding and publicly defended him, saying, “I am so proud of you for speaking about this when you’ve been silenced for so long.”

Flaws in Riot Games’ Investigation

Sinatraa criticized Riot’s handling of the investigation, accusing the company of bias. He pointed to a “liked” post by Alex Francois, Riot’s former head of esports, which appeared to mock those supporting Sinatraa. Won claimed this demonstrated that Francois had pre-determined opinions about the case. “It seems like his mind was made up already,” Won said, adding that the decision to suspend him felt predetermined. His concerns align with previous controversies, such as the time Riot Games apologized for “mistake” amid Sinatraa investigation.

In his post, Won expressed fears that his comments might lead to further bans from Riot-affiliated events. However, he stood firm, stating, “I didn’t proofread or pre-think any of this sh*t. I just straight up told the truth and what’s on my mind.”

Mixed Reactions in the Community

The gaming community’s response to Sinatraa’s revelations has been divided. While some have praised him for speaking out, others remain skeptical, citing the severity of the Valorant allegations. Despite his claims of innocence, the allegations continue to cast a shadow over his career, and his return to professional play remains uncertain.

Riot Games has yet to comment on Won’s recent statements, leaving fans and critics awaiting further clarity. This situation mirrors earlier cases in esports, such as when Sinatraa was suspended in 2021, highlighting ongoing challenges within professional gaming’s governance.

Sinatraa’s decision to address the allegations brings new dimensions to an already complex case. As the esports industry continues to grapple with issues of accountability and fairness, his revelations prompt deeper scrutiny of investigative processes and organizational impartiality.
