Skyesports and Riot Games announce Skyesports Champions Series 2022 – Road to APAC VCT Challengers Stage 2

Skyesports and Riot Games have collaborated to organize an official Valorant event called Skyesports Champions Series(SCS) 2022. This tournament will be the pathway for South Asian rosters to qualify into the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2022 via the APAC qualifiers.

South Asia was recently added to the list of regions that can qualify to VCT officially and Skyesports has reserved the rights to host the regional qualifiers in collaboration with Riot Games. Top two teams from SCS will qualify for VCT Stage 2 APAC Challenger.

The SCS has a total prize pool of $30,000 and a noteworthy point is that the last stage of this tournament will be hosted in a LAN environment in Chennai. The SCS is distributed into three phases and will take place in the following format:

  • Phase 1: Open Qualifiers for India and Rest of South Asia
  • Phase 2: Group Stage League
  • Phase 3: Playoffs

The registrations for first phase have already begun and teams from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh can participate in the event.

The first phase of this tournament has two open qualifiers and top two teams from Indian qualifiers and top two from South Asian qualifiers will move on to the Group Stage League.

These four teams will be mixed with eight invited rosters from the previous South Asian Qualifiers Playoff Stage. The names of invited teams are as follows:

  • Velocity Gaming
  • Global Esports
  • Enigma Gaming
  • Team Exploit
  • God Particles
  • Exceeli Esports
  • Khumbu Esports
  • Union Gaming

These twelve teams will be divided into two groups in a special Draw Show. Teams in group stage will compete in a single round robin format and top three from each group will make it to the Playoff Stage.

The Playoff Stage take place with these six teams flying down to Chennai and face each other in a double-elimination bracket. Selected matches from open qualifiers and the rest of the tournament will be officially broadcasted on Skyesports’ YouTube and Rooter channels.

The schedule of Skyesports Champion Series 2022 is as follows:

  • Registrations: May 1st – 7th
  • India Qualifiers: May 9th – 15th
  • Rest of South Asia Qualifiers: May 9th – 16th
  • Group Stage (Phase 2): May 19th – 24th
  • Playoffs (Phase 3): May 31st – June 5th
