Skyesports, an Indian tournament organizer, is once again under fire over payment delays related to Skyesports Masters 2024.
The allegations were put forward by Copenhagen Wolves coach Anton “ToH1o” Georgiev, who took it to X (formerly Twitter) to publicly call out the TO for failed payments associated with the event, claiming that “nothing is paid out to the teams that played.”
For the uninitiated, Skyesports Masters 2024, which was held in April 2024, featured a prize pool of a whopping $350,000 USD.
During the event, served as the coach for the Indian organization Gods Reign, who managed to land a 7th-8th place finish and earned a $15,000 USD prize as a result.
Prior to this incident, Pakistani esports org Team Shush also called out Skyesports in July 2024, claiming that they hadn’t received their share of the prize money from Skyesports Souvenir 2023, which took place in September 2023.
Following ToH1o’s statement, Skyesports responded to the allegations in an X post of their own, claiming they have already distributed $257,500 in prize money for the Skyesports Masters 2024 and Skyesports Championship 2024.
The tournament organizer explained that the remaining amounts are still pending due to issues with ‘onboarding documents for international transactions and other administrative processes.’
“We deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused and assure all affected teams that we are diligently working to complete the necessary formalities for international payments from India,” the statement reads.
