The Skyesports Valorant League 2020 presented by AMD Ryzen is set to get into the business end of the current iteration of the flagship event. Boasting of the highest single-event prizepool in South Asia, with a million in Indian Rupees up for grabs, the group stage has ended and the semi-finals are set to begin on Boxing Day.
The group qualifiers produced great entertainment value that resulted in record-breaking numbers. In the broadcast that spanned over 20 days and had 7 different streams based on broadcast language, Skyesports broke their own record in terms of viewership, garnering 2.5 million compared to their previous highest number, 2 million. This also made it the highest viewed single event Valorant Tournament/League in South Asia.
All the matches and broadcasts were done on Skyesports’ YouTube Channel, which boasted of a concurrent high of 12,000 viewers across all 7 broadcasts combined, garnering around 12 million watch minutes in the process.
The choice of an inclusive coverage for regional Valorant fans paid dividend for Skyesports, with such numbers proof of the success of their vision to ensure coverage for all types of Valorant fans based in all corners of the country.
The first semi-final will happen on December 26 on 2pm IST, with another ‘El Clasico’ featuring Team Hyderabad and Team Bengaluru duelling it out for a place in the Grand Finals. Hyderabad had the upper hand in both of their bouts against Team Bengaluru in the group stage and it will be interesting to see if the Global Esports powered Bengaluru side can turn the tables this time around.
The second semi-final sees Team Kolkata take on Team Rajasthan on December 27 at 2pm IST. Team Rajasthan gained momentum as the event progressed and ended the season level on points with Team Kolkata, which makes this encounter a much more intriguing as there is little to differentiate the two teams.
One is a concoction of the best individual stars in the Valorant scene while the other boasts of the GodLike Esports Valorant squad. It will be intriguing to see who comes out on top in this fixture – GodLike Esports or their new star signing, Debanjan ‘DeathMaker’ Das.
The losers of the two semi-finals will then meet each other in the Third Place Decider, which is scheduled to take place on December 28 at a yet undisclosed timing.
The Grand Final of the Skyesports Valorant League 2020 will see the winners on December 26 and 27 battle it out for the winners tag and a sweet purse of 400,000 INR to go along with it.
