Sony’s much-awaited next-gen console, PlayStation 5 is finally coming to India on 2nd February and the pre-orders for the console went live at 12 pm yesterday (i.e. 12th January) on various e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Reliance Digital, Croma, ShopAtSC, Vijay Sales, and various offline stores like Sony Centers and Games The Shop (GTS). While Sony had promised enough PS5 stock for fans in India, the console went out of stock almost instantly everywhere as soon as pre-orders went live.
The console was sold out on major e-commerce sites like Amazon within 3 seconds and on Flipkart in less than 15seconds. While the stocks lasted for several minutes on sites like Croma for 10 minutes, Reliance Digital for 15 minutes, and Online Sony store for less than 5 minutes.
While the Sony Centre got restocked later, the site went haywire and fans were unable to place or confirm their orders. As for other online and offline stores, the allotted stock was very low and was sold out before 2 pm.
According to some sources familiar with the matter, Sony has only allotted 4000-5000 PS5 for India at the moment and it is believed that more consoles are only coming after the official launch on February 2nd.
Similar to the other parts of the world, the shortage of PS5 consoles have left fans angry and dejected. These fans quickly took over social media by storm to went out their anger with tweets and Memes.
