True Rippers beats Medal Esports 2-0 in VCL SA Split 2 kick-off

True Rippers started VCL SA Split 2 on a good note by winning 2-0 from Medal, after almost throwing away an 8-4 lead in the second map to win it in Overtime. Medal saw a few roster changes today, owing to their 7-man roster.

True Rippers Roster and Lineup

The roster of True Rippers consists of Saaransh “Whimp” Dang as the IGL, Shravana “Techno” Sahoo, Chogyal “Kaizen” Bhutia, Philip “Aryu” Vergara, Nereus “d1srupt” Lico and Aditya “Pixelzz” Gulhane(Sub).

Medal Esports Roster and Lineup

The Medal Esports has a 7-man roster with Rishabh “Ezzy” Gupta, Tanmay “FOX” Verma, Prish “tricky” Valvani, Emmanuel “jEEE” Buenavidez, Oscar “Kakarot” Jr., Sameer “godvexy” Sharma, Daivik “DcRulz” Chauhan. For today’s match, Godvexy made his Debut in VCL SA as well as Ezzy was back in the main roster, whereas Tricky and Fox were shifted to the inactive roster.

Map Veto and Selection

Bind was banned by Medal Esports and Pearl was banned by True Rippers at the start of VCL SA Split 2. Medal picked Ascent and True Rippers picked Lotus. Split and Fracture were banned making Haven the last map.

Map Recap

On Ascent, MDL started off strong by winning the pistol and anti-eco round, only to lose the bonus round. MDL won 2 more rounds, thanks to triple kills by Ezzy making the score 4-1. Round 6 saw a quad kill by Kaizen on his operator. Round 7 was an amazing clutch by JEE in a 1v3 position. TR still managed to close the half in their favor at 7-5.

MDL won the second pistol as well, by Ezzy’s triple kills, as well as the anti-eco. TR won the full buy round and kept winning multiple rounds to bring the score up to 12-7. MDL got two more rounds but TR proceeded to close the map at 13-9 with D1srupt’s triple kills.

On Lotus, even after DcRulz got a triple kill, TR managed to win the pistol round along with anti-eco as well as the bonus round, thanks to Techno’s 3k. Round 4 was an almost 1v4 clutch win by Whimp, but Ezzy managed to Killjoy diff him, winning MDL their first round win, that too thrifty. Round 7 saw a 2v4 round win by MDL, bringing the score to 2-5. TR managed to close the half at a huge advantage of 8-4.

MDL won a very important pistol round as well as an anti-eco round but lost the bonus round, bringing the score to 9-6 in favor of TR. Round 16 was won by MDL as DcRulz managed to get 3 important kills. MDL equalized the score at 9-9 when DcRulz got a triple kill yet again, managing to come up after a four-round deficit. D1srupt almost got an Ace in round 21, stolen by Techno, to win the round and bring the score to 11-10. MDL equalized again after Whimp whiffed in an important situation and JEE got a triple kill. The match got pushed to Overtime where TR won 14-12. 

Killjoy players for both the team, i.e., Ezzy and Whimp were the MVPs for today’s match.
