In regions where Sony’s PSN service is unavailable, users who pre-ordered the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will now automatically receive a refund from Steam. This update follows the news that the game has been removed from Steam in these territories, making it currently unavailable for purchase by players from those regions.
Sucker Punch, the game’s developer, has previously stated that connecting a PSN account wasn’t necessary to enjoy the single-player mode but as of right now, Ghost of Tsushima is unavailable in more than 170 countries, and players who purchased the game before its May 16 release is getting their money back from retailers like Steam.
A similar issue with PSN once occurred before Helldivers 2, Helldivers 2 was one of the titles that Sony removed from Steam in all territories where PSN wasn’t accessible. Even though Sony decided to no longer require PSN account linkage with Steam, Helldivers 2 is still not sold in certain areas.
As long as PSN is involved, there is an off chance that those regions will not get the game. PSN has been causing issues with geo-fencing a lot more than it should and it is getting frustrating as a lot of gamers are missing out on these highly anticipated games.
