Valve Corporation, the parent company of Steam have called off the support of SteamVR for Apple’s Mac platform. It was announced on SteamVR’s information page.
The message read:
SteamVR has ended macOS support so our team can focus on Windows and Linux. We recommend that macOS users continue to opt into the SteamVR [macos] branches for access to legacy builds. Users can opt into a branch by right-clicking on SteamVR in Steam, and selecting Properties… -> Betas.
The announcement suggested that Steam wants their team to work more on Windows & Linux, hence, they will no longer support Mac OS.
