In a shocking turn of events, Team SouL has officially parted ways with its Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) players Sahil “Omega” Jakhar, Akshat “AkshaT” Goel, Naman “Neyo” , and Sohail “Hector” Shaikh, adding to the recent departure of coach Amit “Amit” Dubey. In addition to this, Harsh “Goblin” Paudwal also announced that he won’t be playing for Team SouL anymore, but he will be a part of S8UL Esports. These unexpected moves came shortly after the team’s commendable performance in the BGMI Pro Series (BMPS) 2023, where they secured the 5th position.
Earlier, coach Amit bid farewell to Team SouL, setting the stage for further upheaval within the team. Subsequently, Omega, in a livestream, disclosed that his departure, along with Akshat, Neyo, Hector, and Amit, was a collective decision to stick together as a team.
Team SouL’s Journey With Omega, Hector, AkshaT, Neyo, Goblin, and Amit
Despite their recent success in the BMPS 2023, the organization has opted to let go of these five players who played a key role in Team SouL’s journey. Their impact was particularly evident in BMPS Season 1, where they proved themselves as one of the best teams in India. However, the pinnacle of their stint was representing India in the PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) 2022, where they finished at 11th position.
Although Team SouL faced a challenging period following the relaunch of BGMI, it managed to recover in the past few months. Notably, they secured a 4th position finish in both Upthrust Esports Diwali Battle 2023 and Skyesports Championship 5.0, making a comeback.
Omega Reveals Reason Behind Parting Ways With Team SouL
In Omega’s livestream announcement, he shared insights into the team’s future plans. He stated, “There is not much to say. Everyone already knows. We five, me, Hector, AkshaT, Neyo, and Amit Bhai, are sticking together, and sadly we are not a part of Team SouL anymore.” He added, “Now, we don’t have any plans for the near future. We are all working on ourselves. I’ve also taken a little break, changing my device. Other players are also working hard, so when there’s any update, we’ll let you know. As everyone says, wait for the official announcement, you also wait for the official announcement. We’ll tell you whatever is there from our side.”
With the departure of the roster, Team SouL, which is predominantly a BGMI-oriented organization, is left without a BGMI team. It will be interesting to see which roster Team SouL signs, or they opt to build a new roster from scratch. On the other hand, it will also be interesting to see if Omega, Hector, AkshaT, Neyo, and Amit Bhai play independently or join an organization.
