Cache may not be a map that is loved and revered in the world of Counter Strike: Global Offensive. However, the map may well have a part of world history to showcase in the near future. The government of Ukraine have proposed to UNESCO to make the Chernobyl and its exclusion zone a World Heritage site.
Chernobyl is not safe for civilization yet and will not be for thousands of years, according to the government. However, it still attracts a lot of tourists every year.
The government is looking for the World Heritage Site as that would help attract more tourists to Chernobyl while also enabling them to preserve and protect the area in a much more comprehensive manner.
The Chernobyl plant is visible in Cache from the T-spawn, with the map based in Pripyat, Ukraine, which is just 3 miles away from the Chernobyl power Plant. Pripyat, like Chernobyl, was left uninhabited due to the area becoming radioactive after the nuclear explosion. In fact, Pripyat was closer to the power plant than the city of Chernobyl.
The Chernobyl exclusion zone will take up to 20,000 years before the radioactivity becomes so minimal so as to make it inhabitable. If UNESCO does provide the Chernobyl exclusion zone, Cache will become part of it as well, albeit virtually.
Perhaps, this will help lower the number of csgo players that seem to have an issue with the map.
