Twitch Might be Returning to India Soon, Server Listings Suggest

Good news for South Asian video game streamers and content creators, as it seems like Twitch might be plotting a return to India in the near future.

The server listings for Twitch on Twitch Status reveals new servers in Chennai and Mumbai, both of which are currently offline at the time of writing.

That being said, take the news with a grain of salt since an India return hasn’t been confirmed by Twitch as of yet. It’s also unclear when the Indian servers will go online.

For the unaware, Twitch is one of the largest streaming platforms across the internet primarily focused on video game streaming.

Over the past few years, a plethora of Indian content creators had joined the platform but was faced with the problem of significantly high latencies due to the servers being located far away.

Needless to say, the potential re-entry to India after a failed attempt in 2018 might still leave Twitch facing some serious competition from other popular live-streaming platforms like Facebook Gaming or YouTube.
