Unknown 9: Awakening – Upcoming AAA Game Set in Kolkata, India

Awakening will focus on a girl named Haroona who was raised in the streets of Kolkata, India.

Friday’s Gamescom Opening Night Live saw game developers Reflector Entertainment revealing the first looks on their upcoming AAA title, Unknown 9: Awakening. The third-person narrative-driven action-adventure game will revolve around a girl named Harona who struggled all her childhood in the streets of Kolkata, India.

Unknown 9 is a “storyworld” by Reflector Entertainment which will include novels, books, podcasts, and games set in the real world but focusing on “ancient mysteries, secret societes, and deadly rivalries.”

The teaser trailer for Unknown 9: Awakening shows a girl who is presumably Haroona hiding something behind a wall when she gets attacked by a group of children. She falls to the ground and just when one of the children is about to hit her with a stick, she seems to phase out of the real world while emitting a strange shockwave. After moving out of the line of the attack, she appears back. Towards the end of the trailer, we could see two hands removing the brick from the wall behind which the girl had hidden the object.

An official summary given by Reflector Entertainment regarding the game says, “Raised on the streets of Kolkata, India and haunted by visions of her own death, Haroona struggles to understand her mysterious innate abilities to manipulate the unseen. A mentor soon helps Haroona hone her gifts, teaches her to access the mysterious hidden dimension known as the Fold and propels her on a journey to unlock the mysteries of this new realm.”
