On April 1, 2021, Riot Games had Valorant fans across the world laughing when they released the notes for patch 33 ⅓. The entire patch notes were filled with hilarious changes to the game that the fans never wanted. Luckily enough, the ‘patch’ was simply an April Fools’ prank by the devs and wasn’t actually shipped to the game.
The first change in the April Fools’ patch was the increment of Brimstone’s smoke duration from 20 to a whopping 100 seconds.
“Players loved the changes to Brimstone’s smoke duration and we wanted to double down on the potency of the output,” the devs joked in the official blog post.
The patch notes also enabled Phoenix players to throw their curveball in several directions (and between their legs.)
Another hilarious change was the change of Valorant melee weapons to “toothpicks” to “better represent their hitbox”. Valorant knives have constantly received negative feedback from the community for their weird hitbox. Contrary to other popular fps titles, the knife in Valorantis quite hard to land on enemies consistently, which makes this joke even more funnier.
Some other changes included the reduction in system requirements to Intel Pentium II, rank reset of all players t{who would be put on the same rank afterwards), and fixing a “bug” that made abilities deal damage.
