Valorant fans rage as Riot wipes account data and skins on alt regions

All the in-game skins, match history, and Battle Pass progress will be reset on a region change.

Recently, a Reddit post has received a lot of traction when it revealed what happens to a VALORANT account when the owner decides to change its region, and players are furious after seeing Riot’s response.

“I just recently moved from Australia back to Belgium,” u/nyuware says in his Reddit thread. “So now I wanna change my region to Europe and I go to the support to do so, and this is the answer I’m getting.”

He then explained that Riot would delete most of the account data, including skins, match history, rank progression, and Battle Pass progress upon changing regions of an account.

“So basically in order to change my region, They will completely wipe my account, rank, paid skins, basically everything and I think that’s bullsh*t.”

What was further infuriating for the player is that they had no knowledge of this prior to starting the process. It wasn’t before he had made the account change request to Riot when he came to know that his account data would be reset. There is also a wait time of two weeks for the region change to commence.

“Before starting the process I didn’t have the information that this would happen, they just told me that I had to wait two weeks in order to change my region, and now they’re asking me to this ? WTF”

The reddit user also shared a screenshot of the Riot support explaining the details of the region changing process to him.

Needless to say, other Redditors were furious over this. “If your whole account is wiped what’s the point in having the ability to region change accounts? Literally a useless function,” one user said in the comments of the thread.

Riot devs haven’t responded to the thread yet, but the post is gaining rapid popularity in the subreddit as it has garnered over 7,000 upvotes in under a day.
