New Valorant Rank ‘Ascendant’ Revealed Ahead of Episode 5 Act 1 Release

With the launch of Valorant Episode 5 Act 1 just around the corner, fans of the shooter are constantly growing more eager to know about what the new update will bring to the title.

While the detailed patch notes haven’t been revealed by Riot Games as of yet, we do have plenty to look forward to including the new map, a fresh Battle Pass, new skin bundles, and much more.

According to a new leak by popular Valorant dataminer ‘ValorLeaks,’ the new update might also bring to the game a new rank – ‘Ascendant’. The Ascendant rank is set to bridge the skill gap between Diamond and Immortal, and players will have to climb through the three tiers of Ascendant before making it to Immortal from the next update.

You can take a look at the new Ascendant rank with its three separate tiers of rank badges below:

This new Ascendant skill group is likely to improve the competitive environment of Valorant by widening the ranking ecosystem of the tactical shooter. However, it also might make the grind to Radiant much tougher, as players will now have to cross an additional three tiers of ranks before being able to make it to Immortal in Valorant.

Valorant is a multiplayer FPS title developed and published by Riot Games in June 2021. It is currently available to play for free on PC, while a mobile version of the game is still in the works.

There are currently a total of eight separate ranks in Valorant, and with the exception of Radiant, each rank is further subdivided into three tiers.

With the addition of ‘Ascendant’ this ranking spectrum will be further broadened to a total of nine separate rank groups.

Here are all the current ranks in Valorant:

  • Iron
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Immortal
  • Radiant

The Ascendant rank will bridge the gap between Diamond and Immortal, and will likely help players get matched with other players of similar skill level.
