G2 Esports bench Davidp

Heading into the 2021 season, G2 Esports has decided to inculcate some changes into their Valorant Roster as they move David “Davidp” Prins to the bench effective immediately.

After standing in for G2 Esports at the Vitality European Open and WePlay! Invitational, Davidp was signed at the end of July after once again helping G2 secure victory, before going on to win every single Ignition Series tournament within Europe.

G2 Esports has been a formidable team since a plethora of Organizations started to assemble their squads for the Valorant Esports scene. With the rise of various teams like Cloud9, TSM, 100 Thieves, G2 Esports decided to sign up for yet another team in the field of First-person shooters.

Upon their entry in the same, they straightaway signed up Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas, a former CS:GO professional player. After building their team around him with the likes of Jacob “pyth” Mourujärv and David “Davidp” Prins, the team had been on a winning spree at a couple of tournaments including Allied Esports Odyssey, Blast Invitational, and Vitality European Open.

But they were recently shown the door by Team Heretics in the First Strike : Europe despite being the favourites to win the latter.

Upon this roster update, team manager Maik “MaikTurtle” Löffler said in a press release,

It’s exactly what they say: it’s harder to stay at the top than it is to reach the top and we will always want to stay at the top, no matter what. This requires ambition and energy which will get put into it, but it also requires adaptation and flexibility at times which might seem shocking. David completed our roster a few months ago and we have seen incredible success together. It has been an emotional few months and we are super thankful for the time with David, but as a team, we came to the conclusion to search for additional options and let him explore as well. We will do all we can to support David with his future and are sure that we’ll meet David on VALORANT servers very soon.”

Earlier in a report by neLendirekt, it had been mentioned, the motive behind releasing davidp is to replace the 26yo with someone who can inculcate leadership in the team.
