Valorant recently announced Gekko, the newest addition to Valorant’s agent pool. Gekko belongs to the Initiator class which depicts special skills which allow the agent to plant//defuse the spike using his wingman, jumping off walls, and further detecting enemies. The Agent’s pet aids him in gathering vital information during a round, giving his squad a leg up on the opposition.
At the VCT LOCK//IN 2023, Gekko was revealed to the public on the main stage for the first time ever. In addition to Gekko’s reveal, VCT held a showcase match between Team Tarik and Team FRTTT using the upcoming Agent on the day of the finals.
VALORANT’s community manager, Jo-Ellen Aragon, took to Reddit to detail the 6.05 update. Gekko’s aural and visual effects have been updated, and he’s gotten a tweak to his Q that makes more sense and improves his performance a little.
The forthcoming VALORANT patch 6.05, which will improve the game in both gameplay and visuals, naturally centers on the new agent. After the update goes live, the explosions in Mosh Pit (C) will no longer bear the generic sound.
Jo-Ellen’s Reddit post provides the complete patch details, which are as follows:
Agent updates
Gekko
- Wingman’s (Q) Plant and Defuse targeting has been improved in order to target higher locations.
Audio Improvements
- Added audio variations for Mosh Pit’s (C) explosions
- Audio improvements for Dizzy’s (E) plasma blasts, which will help you easily identify if it’s flying towards you or towards an ally while in the air
VFX Improvements
- Added VFX to when Gekko is reclaiming an orb, as well as when the globule reclaim is complete
- Improved visuals for enemy creature globules
- Improved performance in Agent Select

The Patch 6.05 Public Beta Environment testing will kick off on March 16 followed by the Patch 6.07 PBE which begins on March 31.
PBE activities are usually done around the weekends as they conclude the following Monday by around 1 PM Central. Only selected individuals from North America can participate in PBE to avoid latency and reduce costs.
PBE is an opus by Riot, used to filter out bugs in their future patches ahead of their actual release. By opting into the PBE servers, players are able to get a sneak peek at future updates before they’re officially introduced to the live servers.
Players will be able to test new maps and play new agents before they are shipped to the game and report any bugs they encounter along the way to the developers’ team.
