How to Turn On New Clutch Mute Feature in Valorant

Backseat gaming has haunted FPS gamers since the dawn of multiplayer shooters. For the unaware, backseat gaming is when your teammates keep talking or instructing you what to do on the microphone even after they themselves have died. Let’s face it, nobody likes those people.

In an intense competitive shooter like Valorant, backseat gaming can often be annoying for players who are alive, especially during clutch situations. While CS:GO, one of the most popular games of the genre, has always allowed players to set custom keybinds through the console to disable teammates’ microphones with the press of a button, Valorant players didn’t have the same freedom till today.

In the latest Valorant patch 4.11, Riot Games has finally introduced a ‘Clutch Mute’ button that enables players to mute their teammates and/or party members during clutch situations (or whenever they want to, really) with the simple press of a button.

Curious to find out how you can enable this feature? Let’s take a look at how to turn on the new clutch mute feature in Valorant patch 4.11.

Valorant Patch 4.11: How to Turn On Clutch Mute?

The Clutch Mute feature enables you to take matters into your own hands and eliminate distractions during intense clutch situations in the game.

Valorant players can simply assign a key to the new ‘Clutch Mute’ feature by following these steps:

  • Launch Valorant
  • From the main menu, navigate to Settings > Controls > Communication.
  • There, you can set individual keybinds for Party and Team Voice Clutch Mute. You can also choose to set the same key to mute both Party and Team voice chats.

That’s it! Now you’ve successfully assigned a key to Clutch Mute in Valorant and ready to try it out in-game.

To test it out once you’re in-game, press the keybind that you have assigned to clutch mute to turn on the feature. The button can be pressed again to toggle it off. You’ll also see a visual indicator on the screen displaying if your clutch mute is enabled.

Valorant is a free-to-play competitive shooter by Riot Games that’s currently available to play on PC.
