NRG Valorant Coach Chet Ban Explained

Leaked Scrims Land NRG Coach in Hot Water

Chetan “Chet” Singh, the head coach behind the NRG Valorant roster, has been suspended from participating in VCT for six months, Riot Games announced in a ruling earlier today.

As per the official ruling, Chet “violated Riot Games Global Esports Code of Conduct for broadcasting VoDs whose access was contingent on current status as head coach of a VCT team,” which has resulted in his ban.

This suspension has attracted widespread attention from esports fans around the world, many of whom are expressing dissatisfaction with Riot’s decision.

Why Was NRG Valorant Coach Chet Banned?

On July 31, 2024, Chet broadcasted confidential VODs during a live Twitch stream. These VODs, which contained team communications from previous NRG matches, were intended for competitive use only and were restricted to players and organizations approved by Riot Games.

According to Riot’s statement, Chet did not request the necessary permissions before airing this content, leading to his suspension for unauthorized disclosure.

Chet’s Response

Chet has responded to Riot Games’ ruling via an X post, expressing his disagreement and arguing that no harm was done to either party. He further mentioned that he will continue streaming until the ban expires in March 2025.

“I disagree with their ruling as no damages were done to either party but I can no longer compete until March so until then I will be streaming in the meantime,” Chet said in his response.
