Riot Removes Split From Valorant Matchmaking; When Will It Return?

In an announcement made on April 24th, Riot Games has confirmed that Split is getting removed from all game modes in Valorant due to a recently discovered bug.

As a result, Split will be unavailable in Unrated, Competitive, Spike Rush, and Swiftplay till the bug is fixed. Moreover, since Split was originally slated as the Premier map this week, it will be substituted with Ascent. Additionally, Split will not be included in the map pick and ban process for the Premier Playoffs scheduled for this Sunday.

Game-Breaking Split Bug Gets the Map Removed From Valorant’s Map Pool

The bug in question, although not officially specified by Riot, is believed by players to have allowed certain Agents to exploit their abilities, granting them access to extremely high locations on the map, thus providing an unfair advantage.

The announcement also highlights another issue involving Agent Cypher. This bug causes his Trapwires to appear on the minimaps of his teammates even after he has been killed. Despite this, Cypher will remain playable in the game.

When Will Split Return To Valorant?

Riot has confirmed that Split will be returning to Valorant alongside the upcoming patch 8.08 with both the aforementioned bugs being fixed. Valorant patch 8.08 is expected to hit the live servers around April 30, 2024.
