Stax Benched from DRX Roster Ahead of VCT Pacific Stage 2

With Valorant Champions Tour Pacific Stage 2 just around the corner, DRX has decided to bench their IGL Kim “stax” Gu-taek, as confirmed by the organization on Monday, May 27.

“After a careful & lengthy consideration, DRX has made the difficult decision to place stax from the starting roster to the bench status effective immediately,” the South Korean org said in a statement. “Stax will remain a part of DRX as we head into Stage 2, but is granted permission to seek new opportunities as a restricted free agent.”

The announcement comes after a disappointing run for DRX in the ongoing VCT season. The team was eliminated in the semifinals of the VCT Pacific Kickoff earlier this year, and finished in fourth place at the VCT Pacific Stage 1 this month, losing to Gen.G in both events. As a result, DRX failed to qualify for the international events this year in Madrid and Shanghai.

At the time of writing, it’s still unclear who will fill the void left by stax’s departure from DRX’s active roster.

Fans can catch the new DRX roster in action during their next appearance at VCT Pacific Stage 2, where they will face ZETA DIVISION on June 15, 2024.

With DRX getting benched, the active roster of the organization includes the following players:

  • Yu “BuZz” Byung-chul
  • Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan
  • Jung “Foxy9” Jae-sung
  • Kang “BeYN” Ha-bin
  • Pyeon “termi” Seon-ho (Head coach)
  • Kim “glow” Min-soo (Coach)
  • Kwon “Argency” Soon-woo (Coach)
