Jaccob “Yay” Whiteaker has been acquired by Team Envy from AndBox, the former organization announced today on Twitter. He will debut with Envy at the upcoming VCT Stage 3: Challengers playoffs event.
Having joined AndBox in September 2020, yay contributed a huge impact to the team’s success with his Duelist role, where he played Jett as his main agent. Under the 22-year-old North American, AndBox picked championships at the NSG Organized events including the Renegades invitational. In addition to it, with Jaccob on board, AndBox had a promising run at the VCT Stage 2 where they qualified for the Challengers Finals but were denied a spot further by Version1.
Lately, AndBox were rumored to shuffle their roster post their exit from the Open Qualifier of VCT: Stage 3 Challengers 2 and were spotted practicing without yay on the squad. Also, they parted ways with Sebastian “seb” Bucki in a bid to restructure their Valorant division.
It was later revealed by Team Envy that they have acquired yay from AndBox who would replace Anthony “mummAy” DiPaolo on the active squad who was benched by the Dallas-based Organization. Envy have also signed Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen on loan from FaZe Clan and might need to chalk their plans out going forward towards the Berlin score.
With Envy already qualified for the Challengers Playoffs event, they might have seemed to have added extra firepower to their team ahead of their clash against TSM FTX in the former event’s opener. The Challengers Playoffs event is scheduled to start from August 11.
With the addition of Jaccob “Yay” Whiteaker, Team Envy are now:
- Pujan “FNS” Mehta
- Victor “Victor” Wong
- Austin “crashies” Roberts
- Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker
- Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen (On Loan from FaZe Clan)
- Anthony “mummAy” DiPaolo (Reserve)
