After two days of intense Valorant action during the playoffs, we’re standing at the brink of the grand finals of the Valorant Conquerors Championship. The two teams that made it to the grand finals include Global Esports and Velocity Gaming. Both these teams showed complete dominance during the playoffs to secure their slot at the Grand Finals.
Let’s take a look at these teams’ journeys to the VCC 2021 Grand Finals.
Global Esports
Having finished undefeated in the group stages and after defeating the likes of Damaru Gaming and Enigma Gaming, Global Esports had to face their rivals Velocity Gaming in their first match of the playoffs. Despite putting up a decent fight, they were outperformed by Velocity Gaming and the match ended with a scoreline of 2-1 in favor of Velocity Gaming.
Consequently, Global Esports dropped to the lower bracket where they had to face Enigma Gaming once again. The match, however, wasn’t much of a hassle for Global Esports, who managed to win two games back to back and attain a 2-0 victory over Enigma Gaming, which earned them a spot at the lower bracket finals.
The LB finals proved to be a challenge for Global Esports. Their opponent, Team Exploit, is currently one of the finest Valorant teams in South Asia. The match went back and forth but Global Esports managed to come out on top and won with a scoreline of 2-1.
The victory of Global Esports in the LB finals against Team Exploit cemented their place at the grand finals of VCC.
Velocity Gaming
Unlike Global Esports, Velocity Gaming had dropped a game in their group stages against Team Exploit. However, they managed to qualify for the playoffs relatively smoothly after defeating Exceeli Esports.
The playoffs, however, saw Velocity Gaming displaying stellar performances and dominating against their oppositions. After defeating Global Esports 2-1 in the Upper Bracket Semifinals, VLT earned their spot at the upper bracket finals.
In the UB finals, Velocity Gaming had to face Team Exploit, the team that had defeated them 2-1 in the group stages. However, VLT seemed to have learned from their mistakes and didn’t leave any room for mistakes as they took down Team Exploit 2-0 and progressed to the grand finals.
The Grand Finals will see Velocity Gaming and Global Esports battling it out for a lion’s share of the $33,000 prize pool and a slot at the APAC Last Chance Qualifiers. The VCC Grand Finals are scheduled to commence on August 29th, 5 pm IST.
