Valorant ‘Downed’ Feature Hints to a New Game Mode

Recently, dataminers have found the existence of a ‘Downed’ state in the game files of Valorant, and it has become a cause of excitement in the Valorant community.

Prominent Valorant data miner ‘ValorLeaks’ first shared his findings on Twitter, revealing information about this newly-discovered state that might hint to a potential new game mode coming to the shooter in the near future.

Currently, the following details are known about the ‘Downed’ state from the game files:

  • ~Downed health: 100HP
  • Max Downed Time: 15 Seconds
  • When revived, you will have 50HP.
  • You can revive from 2M away.
  • ~ When you get near a player “REVIVE” will show, and while reviving you will see “REVIVING…”

~ Reviving Takes 2 Seconds

While the ‘Downed’ state doesn’t currently exist in Valorant, it’s commonly found in other shooters, especially Battle Royales. In the ‘Downed’ state, players can’t shoot enemies or use any weapons, but can crawl around slowly. Teammates can revive the downed player after channeling for a small time, bringing them back to a certain percentage of their full HP and making them able to fight in the battlefield again.

This has led to speculations from the Valorant player base that a Battle Royale game mode might be arriving to the shooter, even though it hasn’t been officially confirmed by Riot as of yet.

However, there’s also a good chance that the upcoming game mode is something other than Battle Royale that’ll feature the ‘Downed’ state for fallen players.

From the Tweet by ValorLeaks, it’s apparent that the Downed player has to be revived by channeling for 2 seconds from upto 2 meters away. Once revived, the player will return to the battlefield with 50% of their original HP.

The addition of a Battle Royale mode to Valorant can potentially spike the player counts of the title by a huge margin and give it an edge over other popular modern-day multiplayer shooters out there.
