Riot Games Announces Valorant Replay System, “Nowhere near launch,” says Technical Lead

In a recent announcement on their official X handle, Riot Games introduced their new Executive Producer, Andy Ho. With this announcement, Riot Games also confirmed a feature they are working on for the Valorant Replay System. Keep reading to know more.

In the announcement/update video posted on X, Riot Games has explained how they work on each aspect of Valorant. They talked about how the competitive map pool will be rotated and what their approach is when balancing agent abilities and the tactical shooter aspect of the game.

Riot Games also confirmed that they are working on a Replay system for Valorant. They also showed a short clip of the ‘Prototype’ Replay system. Despite this, Marcus Reid, Valorant’s Technical Lead explained that the replay system is “nowhere near launch.” This suggests that the replay system is still in the works and needs some ironing out. He went on to explain that the game was never developed for a replay system. Their original aim while developing the game was to “maximize performance, stability, and competitive integrity.”

Reid further explained the challenges they are facing while developing the replay system over a comparison video of real-time gameplay and the prototype replay system they currently have. This confirms Reid’s earlier statement suggesting the feature is nowhere close to being released.

Just the news of a replay system being in the works has created a lot of hype in the community. It would be exciting to see an accurate version of the replay system in the game. Having said this, Riot Games has not indicated when we can expect to see the working replay system. Be on the lookout for the upcoming 8.11 patch for Valorant in early June.
