On June 20th, Riot Games announced a revamped update schedule for their competitive shooter Valorant, and it’s set to change the way that new updates are shipped to the game starting with patch 9.0.
Previously, Valorant followed a consistent update pattern where servers were taken down a few hours before major updates. After this downtime, players were able to download and play the new update without any hassle.
However, as officially confirmed by the Valorant X (formerly Twitter) handle, the update schedule of the title will change with the upcoming Valorant 9.0 patch.
As the developers mentioned in the aforementioned X thread, all new content releases as part of a major update will now be shipped in three parts instead of the usual one.
The first part will include stuff that will be available on the day of the update. These include:
- Balance changes to existing Agents
- Main menu background video
- Login screen art
The majority of the content from the update will be available in the game the day after it is officially released. Here’s a list of all the stuff that will be available one day after the patch is live:
- Agents
- Maps
- Acts
- Rank refreshes
- Battle passes
Lastly, if the update brings with it new skin bundles to the game, they will be available for purchase two days after the update is shipped.
