The region lock for Valorant has been a menace for users ever since the onset of the game. To change the region, users cannot directly change the region in-game.
The user has to contact the customer support service on their website and the customer support executive would proceed with the request. But the regional change comes with a cost.
On changing the region, the user would lose their unlocked agents, ranks, achievements, and even the purchased skins. This means that all the data would reset and you will have to once again start from the beginning.
This did not go down well with the community. The players have been asking for a feature to manually change their account’s region without contacting customer support or losing their valued achievements and expensive skins.
During an “Ask Valorant” session dated November 19, one of the enthusiasts asked, “Will we ever be able to transfer account regions without losing hundreds of dollars of skins and hundreds of hours of progress?” Ask Valorant is a Q&A session hosted by the Riot Games Dev team every other week.
To the questioner’s surprise, Riot Games revealed that this feature has been on their list and it is likely to be added by mid-2021.
“This is something we definitely know is important, and it’s on our list behind a couple of other critical priorities for VALORANT. We’d like it to be sooner, but it’s looking like this option will be available towards the middle of 2021,” said Senior Producer Naoise Creaven.
