At the end of May 2021, Riot had announced its collaboration with Nodwin Gaming to give the South Asian region its first-ever official Championship event and to be a part of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Circuit.
The previous Conquerors Championship event led the winner to the APAC Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) which was held later in November where Global Esports fared victorious upon Velocity Gaming in the Grand Finals of the said tournament.
Valorant Conquerors Championship is a framework of the VCT Circuit which would further help teams and their players from the South Asian region make an impact alongside the rest teams from across the globe. Nodwin on their blog stated the VCC will have a prize pool of $30,000 USD (22,34,172 INR as of 7:31:00 PM IST).
The forthcoming Valorant Conquerors Championship will follow the same format as its first iteration. Teams qualifying from their regional tournaments will further be promoted towards the VCC Playoffs in a bid to reach the grand finals while the top two South Asian teams will stand a chance to feature in the Split 1 Asia Pacific Challenger Playoffs from where the winner will then play at the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022 Masters Split 1.
In an exclusive press release, Akshat Rathee, MD & Co-Founder, NODWIN Gaming stated,
After a stupendous story line following the triumph of Global Esports in the first iteration of the same, the VCC 2022 is indeed a boon for the teams who look forward to spark their flame and showcase what they got in the store for their regions.
