VCC: Big Day today for the participants and what it could mean for the winner

Velocity Gaming and Global Esports will take the stage here at the Grand Finals of the Valorant Conquerors Championship as they get ready for us, an important match-winning here would guarantee them a place at the APAC Last Chance Qualifier, towards the Valorant Champions Event 2021, to be held later in November.

The matchup between Velocity Gaming and Global Esports is something fans are looking forward to as Valorant has been a boom in the Indian Esports Scene ever since its launch.

VLT have already greatly exceeded expectations by surviving against the top South Asian teams, but the Indian team’s final boss battle against Global Esports today will be like none other. Having initially picked up Agneya “Marzil” Kaushik and Mohit “mw1” Wakle ahead of VCC have indeed bolstered their firepower but it all comes down to the final passage where they would need to halt the likes of Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar and Bhavin “HellrangeR” Kotwani.

For Global Esports, VLT have been their roadblock before in a closely contested Upper Bracket Round 1 and the only question that arises is, “Will Velocity be their roadblock again?”

At the end of May, Riot had announced its collaboration with Nodwin Gaming to give the South Asian region its first-ever official Championship event, a part of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Circuit. Five regional qualifiers and a wildcard event had been organized by Nodwin. India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan were provided with two sets of qualifiers each in a bid to accommodate every team willing to compete for the ultimate battle and due to their past historic presence in Esports. A total of 7 teams advanced towards the main event, with Enigma gaming from India making it through from the Wildcard.

Across the main VCC event, Velocity Gaming (VLT/India), Global Esports (GE/India), Enigma Gaming (Enigma/India), and Team Exploit (TE/Pakistan) were able to further qualify for the Finals playoffs where we saw VLT maintain a flawless run over the Upper bracket while Enigma were knocked out from the contention. Global Esports indeed made light work of Team Exploit in the Lower Bracket to set up a Grand Final Clash with their regional counterparts, Velocity Gaming.

The winner from today’s match would determine the team who will earn a spot at the APAC Last Chance Qualifier, an event that provides just one slot towards the ultimate Valorant Champions Event. So far, Sentinels and KRÜ Esports are the only teams who have qualified for the former.
