Reckoning Defeats God’s Reign; Win 2-1 After Being One Map Down

After a close map defeat by God’s Reign, Reckoning put up a promising show, doing a reverse sweep and winning the match 2-1.

The 6-man roster of God’s Reign consists of Vibhor “Vibhor” Vaid as IGL, Garvit “Ember” Nehra, Aman “Hoax” Yadav, Nick “tixx” Quinn, Kale “autumn” Dunne, and Simar “psy” Sethi.

Map Veto and Selection

The first bans of God’s Reign and Reckoning Esports were Fracture and Haven respectively. Their first picks were Icebox and Ascent. God’s Reign banned Split and Reckoning banned Pearl. Lotus was the final remaining map for the veto.

Match Recap

On Icebox, GDR had a kickstart by winning the pistol round and the anti-eco round, and they lost their bonus as Flabben clutched a 1 vs 2 situation. Round 4 was also won by RGE as Deadly10 got a triple kill and Master clutched the round in a 1 vs 2 situation. Round 5 was a half-buy-round win by GDR, even though Harshhh got a triple kill. Round 8 was a thrifty win by RGE as Flabben got a triple frag clutch on his sheriff. The half ended at 6-6, where RGE again got a thrifty win as Hvoya got a quad kill on Sage with his sheriff.

RGE won the pistol round in the second half as Hvoya got a quad kill with his classic again. They won the anti-eco but then lost 4 rounds in a row. The rounds went close, but GDR went on to close the game at 13-11. 

On the map of Ascent, RGE started off the match in their favor by winning the pistol round and the anti-eco round. They lost the bonus but won two consecutive rounds afterward with Hvoya getting a 3k in round 5, leading 4-1. In round 10, Vibhorr shut his site down as a Killjoy and got a quad kill, making the score 4-6. RGE managed to close the half at 7-5 as Deadly10 got triple kills on his Jett knives.

GDR won the pistol round but lost the anti-eco to RGE as they managed to win a thrifty round. RGE did not drop a single round after that, closing the map at a dominating score of 13-6.

Moving on to Lotus, RGE had a strong start as Hvoya got an Ace in the pistol round. They got the anti-eco as well as the bonus round as Fkabben got a triple kill. RGE was leading 4-0 when GDR broke their momentum, equalizing the score at 4-4. GDR managed to get continuous rounds closing the half at 7-5.

RGE won the pistol and the anti-eco round, and with Flabben’s triple kill, they closed out the bonus round as well. They managed to get 5 rounds continuously until in round 18 GDR got a thrifty win. RGE managed to close the map at 13-9, dropping only 2 rounds on the entire defensive side. Overall, the MVP was Hvoya with a KDA of 67/48/18 on three different agents, Sage, Sova, and Skye.
